Handmade chainmaille-inspired earrings featuring bold primary color beads, stainless steel rings, and pointed metal spike drops.
These one-of-a-kind earrings are inspired by medieval ornament, baroque drama, and the bold visual language of De Stijl, also known as Neo-Plasticism. The red, blue, and yellow beads nod to the movement’s iconic use of primary color, while the stainless steel chainmaille-style structure gives the piece a harder, more relic-like edge.
The result is part court jester, part stained glass, part tiny modernist weapon.
Each pair is handmade by me as an independent craft jeweler and chainmaille maker. The beads were sourced second-hand and, to the best of my knowledge, are glass. Because the beads are reclaimed, they may have subtle variations or small imperfections, which are part of their charm.
Materials:
Niobium earring hooks, a hypoallergenic metal
Stainless steel 304 jump rings
Second-hand beads, believed to be glass
Metal spike charms
Please note: I am not a gemologist or fine jewelry expert. This piece is handmade art jewelry, not fine jewelry. Due to small parts, these earrings are not suitable for children, especially if disassembled.
Perfect for lovers of medieval-inspired jewelry, baroque accessories, chainmaille, De Stijl-inspired design, Neo-Plasticism, fantasy costuming, modernist art, statement earrings, and unusual handmade pieces.
This exact pair is one-of-a-kind. I will create additional versions in a similar style, but each pair will have its own variations.
